WDF World Open geannuleerd, twee Qualifiers voor Lakeside

In Nederland zijn er sinds afgelopen weekend weer extra coronamaatregelen afgekondigd. Deze maatregelen hebben de WDF en de NDB doen besluiten om de World Open, die plaats zou vinden op 4 december 2021, af te gelasten.

"Met de huidige maatregelen is het simpelweg onmogelijk om een evenement als de World Open te organiseren waar honderden mensen van binnen en buiten Europa op af komen. Hoe zeer wij ons ook hadden verheugd om iedereen weer live te kunnen ontmoeten in De Bonte Wever voor een geweldig dartfeest, zijn wij genoodzaakt om het toernooi te annuleren", aldus Richard Ashdown. 

Alle inschrijvingen van de  WDF World Open krijgen binnen een week het inschrijfgeld teruggestort. Voor het kosteloos annuleren van je verblijf in De Bonte Wever adviseren we je om contact op te nemen met de locatie: booking@debontewever.nl 

Twee kwalificatietoernooien
De WDF, de NDB en de EDO hebben het besluit genomen om twee kwalificatietoernooien voor de Lakeside te organiseren, beide op 5 december. Naast het kwalificatietoernooi in Nederland op 5 december in De Bonte Wever, zal er op diezelfde dag ook een kwalificatietoernooi in Engeland georganiseerd worden in de Lakeside Country Club. Aan beide toernooien kunnen spelers van over de hele wereld deelnemen.

Richard Ashdown legt uit: "Dit hebben we besloten om toch iedereen een kans te geven zich te kwalificeren voor de Lakeside, en om zo het aantal darters op één locatie en reisbewegingen te beperken. Deze beslissing is dus genomen in het belang van de veiligheid van spelers en fans."

In beide kwalificatietoernooien kunnen twee mannen en één dame een rechtstreeks ticket winnen richting de WDF Lakeside World Championships. De beste twee jongens en het beste meisjes van ieder toernooi mogen ook hun opwachting gaan maken op het Lakeside-podium.

Als één van de kwalificatietoernooien toch nog wordt afgelast vanwege verdere Covid-beperkingen, kwalificeren vier mannen, twee vrouwen, vier jongens en twee meisjes zich voor de Lakeside World Championships vanuit het overgebleven kwalificatietoernooi.

Spelers die zich al hebben ingeschreven voor het kwalificatietoernooi in Nederland, maar nu willen spelen in het Engelse kwalificatietoernooi moeten zich voor de Nederlandse versie uitschrijven, en krijgen dan hun inschrijfgeld binnen een week teruggestort. Hiervoor kun je een e-mail sturen naar: WDFtournaments@ndbdarts.nl. Zet in deze e-mail behalve je naam ook het ordernummer van de inschrijving. Deze kun je vinden in het onderwerp van de bevestiging. Vervolgens moeten ze zich zelf inschrijven voor het Engelse kwalificatietoernooi.

WDF World Open Cancelled, Two Qualifying Competitions For Lakeside

Following the news that additional corona virus measures have been announced in the Netherlands, the WDF and the NDB have taken the decision to cancel the World Open, which was scheduled to take place on Saturday 4 December 2021 at the Bonte Wever in Assen.

Richard Ashdown, Chief Development Officer said: “With the introduction of the corona virus measures, it is simply impossible to host an event like the World Open that attracts hundreds of people from inside and outside Europe. As much as we were delighted to be able to meet everyone live again in De Bonte Wever for a great darts party, we are forced to cancel the tournament.”

All registrations for the World Open will receive a full refund of the registration fee within the next 10 days. Players and spectators are advised that to cancel their stay in the Bonte Wever free of charge, they should contact the hotel directly: booking@debontewever.nl

Two Lakeside Qualification Competitions To Go Ahead
The WDF, the NDB and the EDO have taken the decision to host two World Championship qualifying competitions, both to be held on Sunday 5 December. In addition to the previously announced qualifying competitions in the Netherlands in the Bonte Wever, a qualifying competition will also take place at the Lakeside Country Club in England. Players from across the world may participate in either tournament.

Richard Ashdown said: “We decided it was important to give everyone a chance to qualify for the Lakeside, but to limit the number of darts players in one location and travel movements. The decision has been made in the interest of the safety of players and fans.”

In both qualifying competitions, two men and one lady can win a direct ticket to the WDF Lakeside World Championships. In addition, the top two boys and top girl from each qualifying competition will also make their appearance on the Lakeside stage.

Should either qualifying competition be cancelled due to the introduction of further Covid restrictions, four men, two women, four boys and two girls will qualify for the Lakeside World Championships from the remaining qualifying competition.

Players that have already entered the World Championship qualifying competition in Assen but now wish to play in the England qualifying competition, should email: WDFtournaments@ndbdarts.nl.
The registration for the Dutch qualifying competition will then be cancelled and you will receive a full refund of the registration fee within the next 10 days. For quick processing please put your name and order number of the registration in the email. The order number can be found in the subject line of the confirmation email that you received after registration.
After the cancelation of the registration for the Dutch qualifying competition, you must register for the England qualifying competition yourself.
